Awhile back I coded an interactive game for the Boys and Girls Club of America that is co sponsored by Charles Schwabb. BCGCA and Schwabb have a "Money Matters" initiative that teaches teens the value of money and how to be responsible with it. THe game basically walks the teens through a series of choices they make while getting set up to sell t-shirts at a local fair. It shows their choices and the results of the choices they make both good and bad. I wrote the T-Shirt Song to go along with a short intro. Here is the result. Add Comment Back in the summer I bought a new keyboard. It's the Korg Kronos 88. I went all out. This thing is a magnificent beast. While going through some of the sounds, I found this one. Here's the result of a few minutes of inspiration. I'm currently working a little project of "micro tunes" using iOS software almost exclusively to create the music. I'm aiming to do one new tune using exclusively apps available for the iOS. One of the apps I'm using is called Figure by Propellerhead. Basically you have three tracks to work with, Bass, Drums and a melody. You record each one in two bar loops and have access to things like a basic mixer, tempo, key and some sound modulation. The cool thing about how you use Figure is there is a square area that you slide your finger around in and you can set ranges and the number of scale tones you would like to use so it is almost impossible to play a bad note. Other parameters let you dial in the rhythmic patterns and the octave range of the selected instrument. Figure is not without it's faults. You can't save your settings. You are limited to two measures of looping. There is no way to record without using the headphone out and going into some other recorder. I used my M-Audio Fast Track Pro into SoundForge to get ready for upload to my sound cloud account. Most sound generating apps are starting to include soundcloud integration so hopefully the fine chaps at Propellerheads will add some of there features in future upgrades. Here is my latest track recorded exclusivley with Figure: The official intelligent design theory site has arrived. Work has begun on writing and recording 2 full length releases, an ep of older projects as well as a handmade limited edition from my days on the old mp3.com. Either come here and visit or subscribe to the rss feed to keep up with the latest news and goings on. Not all music is posted here so I encourage you to also follow along over at soundcloud.com. That's where you will be able to find all the latest pre-mastered material, musical ideas, older projects and other things that don't quite fit into the official idt universe. |
